Shiva has been assigned to do a key role in a film titled Ya Ya which is directed by debutant Rajasekar.
Ramya Nambeesan plays the female lead. The highlight is that Santhanam and ‘Power Star’ Dr Srinivasan have also been roped in for the movie.
The music is scored by Vijay Ebenezer of Kalakalappu fame. Rajasekar has worked as an associate to OK OK fame M Rajesh. According to the filmmaker, ‘Ya Ya is a comedy caper.
There are enough elements to entertain the masses’. Shooting for the movie is currently on.

Sonakshi inspired by Sridevi, Parveen for disco song

Tight leather pants and shiny dresses – the 1980s era saw it all. Now, new age actress Sonakshi Sinha is taking cue from actresses like Sridevi and Parveen Babi for a retro disco number that she has shot for the “Himmatwala” remake.
The number, choreographed by Chinni Prakash, is called “Thank god it’s Friday”.
The movie’s director, Sajid Khan, wanted to give Sonakshi the look of Sridevi and Parveen Babi. He roped in designer Manish Malhotra and Sonakshi, who admits working hard for the song, is happy with the result.
“Manish has done a fantastic job and I absolutely love both my looks. I also watched the videos of their (the actress’) old songs before I started shooting. I would even watch other songs in the vanity to understand the dancing and the style of that era,” Sonakshi said in a statement.
For her first avatar in the number, Sonakshi has sported a vintage sequined golden dress and headband, which bears a striking resemblance Parveen Babi’s look in the song “Pyaar karne waale” from the film “Shaan”.
Sonakshi’s other look where she is wearing black-coloured tight pants, a jacket and boots, is inspired from Sridevi’s disco look from “Chaalbaaz”.
“Himmatwala”, a remake of 1983 hit movie of the same name, features actors Ajay Devgn and Tammanah. Co-produced by UTV Motion Pictures and Vashu Bhagnani, it will release March 29.

Mum-to be Kim Kardashian talks about baby names

Kim Kardashian and boyfriend Kanye West, who are just six months away from becoming first-time parents to a little boy or girl, haven’t yet decided on the baby’s name.
The mum-to-be told E! News that they’re not sure yet, adding that she and West still have to think about whether they’ll give their future son or daughter a “K” name to carry on her family’s tradition, Us Magazine reported.
She said that she has to discuss that with West, and will keep the name private whenever they decide.
In fact, the 32-year-old plans to start holding back a lot more personal information as her due date approaches. That includes her romance with West, 35, whom she calls the love of her life.
She feels that she has divulged so much in the past. She just chooses to be a little bit more private this time around.

Salman Khan, Atul Agnihotri to team up for an action movie

Filmmaker- actor Atul Agnihotri is all set to do a film with his brother-in-law actor Salman Khan and it will be an action movie.
Salman and Atul had teamed up for ‘Bodyguard’ which did good business at the box office.
“I am doing a movie with Salman. It is completely an original script…and not a remake. It is in scripting stage. I am actively involved in the project,” Atul told.
“The work is under progress. It is difficult to talk more about it as we are still working on it,” he said.
Considering that most of Salman’s films like ‘Wanted’, ‘Dabangg’, ‘Bodyguard’, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and ‘Dabangg 2′ have revolved around larger-than-life-action were blockbusters, Atul is also not shying away from taking the benefit of this genre.
On if it will be an action movie, Atul said, “Action is a pre-requisite of all his films so action will be there in this film too.”
If all goes well, Atul intends to begin work on this project from next year.
Atul made his debut as a director with ‘Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha’ (2004) featuring Salman, Preity Zinta and Bhoomika Chawla. The film did not enjoy a good run at the box office.
Undeterred by this, he directed and even turned a producer with ‘Hello’ (2008), a film based on the novel ‘One Night at a Call Centre’, in which Salman had a cameo.
Atul returned to production with Salman-Kareena Kapoor starrer action-romantic film ‘Bodyguard’ (2011), which was a huge hit at the box office.

Salman Khan reacts to Antara Mali’s statement

The news of well known photographer Jagdish Mali being rescued from the streets of Mumbai sent shock waves in the film industry. Mali was found in a poor state on the streets of Versova recently by ‘Bigg Boss 6′ contestant Mink Brar.While it was earlier reported that the photographer’s daughter, actress Antara Mali did not initially extend help to her ailing father, the actress has finally broken her silence and issued a statement to Mumbai Mirror clearing her stand .
In the statement issued to the daily. Anatara said, “His condition is such that at times, if he forgets his insulin shot, he gets disoriented. At such times opening a simple door latch can be a challenge. This may happen once in six months, the rest of the time he’s fully functioning and normal. This is what happened that evening.
The actress added that contrary to reports, her father was not mentally ill and was living in a flat in Versova which she bought for him in 2009.Antara was rather miffed at industry people who were speaking about her father with authority. “This may be a publicity stunt by someone trying to capitalise on his ill health and has accomplished nothing but damage a 35-year-old glorious career. My dad is not an alcoholic but has a chronic liver disorder along with heavy diabetes. He hasn’t touched a drop of alcohol for 15 years. He is sober.
When Mink found the photographer on the streets, she first tried to contact Antara who refused to react to the story. Eventually, she got in touch with actor Salman Khan who sent his car and four other people to escort Jagdish back to his flat.

Srikanth Addala’s debut film ‘Kotha Bangaru Lokam’ was not a trend setter; it was just an above average grosser. His second film ‘Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ may not end as biggest blockbuster, but he made it possible to show the taste of multi-starrer with two top stars like Venkatesh and Mahesh babu to Telugu audience.
Many think he might have pocketed plenty as remuneration for the movie, but even we shocked after knowing the pay. As per an inner source, Dil Raju paid just Rs.50 lakhs for the film. But he spent lot of money on pre-production work which carried on for 3 years.

Lata Mangeshkar wants to sing with Amitabh Bachchan

Singing legend Lata Mangeshkar has launched her music lable LM Music, which has already taken off in a big way. She says her immediate plans are to sing with Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bahchcan other than releasing a ghazal album and creating a platform for children who are seen on reality shows.
I believe he (Big B) is keen to do ‘shlokas’ of Lord Tirupati with me. I’d love to do the project with him. I’ve spoken to him about it already,” said the 83-year-old
Excerpts from an interview:
Q: What are your plans for your music company? I believe you will now be singing with Amitabh Bachchan?
A: Yes! I want to sing with Amitji for sure. We had come together for a duet – ‘Yeh kahan aa gye hum’ in Yash Chopraji’s film ‘Silsila’. But we didn’t record it together.
Q: What would you be recording with Bachchan?
A: I believe he is keen to do ‘shlokas’ of Lord Tirupati with me. I’d love to do the project with him. I’ve spoken to him about it already. He has also been kind enough to give the voiceover for an album of devotional songs by Suresh Wadkar released on our label.
Suresh had recorded the Kabir ‘bhajans’ many years ago, but never released the album. When I heard them, I thought they just needed some brushing up. That’s where Bachchan saab’s commentary came in.
Q: What are the other albums to be released on the LM Music label?
A: We’ve already released several spiritual albums, and a children’s album by my sister Meena. In that album Meena’s granddaughter has also sung…I’ve also released an album of devotional songs ‘Har Har Mahadev’ with Shankar Mahadevan accompanying me.
Then there is an album of Buddha chants entitled ‘Buddham Sharman Gachchami’ featuring 11 artists including Hariharan, Shankar Mahadevan, Pankaj Udhas, Anoop Jalota, my sister Asha Bhosle and me. This is the first time I’ve sung in Pali.
We also have classical vocalist Jeetendra Abhisheki’s son Shounak singing Bhau Geet for the first time. Shounak’s sister, who is my sister Meena’s daughter-in-law, has also sung in that album.
Q: What has the feedback to your label been so far?
A: The feedback to my music label has been heartening. I completed 70 years of singing in 2012. I am deeply indebted to the people of India for liking my voice for so many years. What would I have been if it wasn’t for the love of the people? It’s my duty to give something back to the music industry now.
Q: What are your future plans for the label?
A: We’ve lots of plans. Usha is ready to record an album of ‘garba’ songs. I also want to record ghazals. I also want to record poems of Bachchan’s saab’s father Shri Harivansh Rai Bachchan, selected by Amitji. We’re only starting out.
Q: Any plans for upcoming singers?
A: My ardent wish is to create a platform for these children who are seen on reality shows after which they vanish from the music scene. They are known only as long as the show lasts. We want to create our own music show where winners from these shows get a second chance. Those selected from our show can go on to record songs on our label. I feel their talent and hard work are getting lost

Tapori Title for Prabhas or Mahesh ?

Tapori is the title which is creating enough buzz in the Industry these days. It has been registered in the AP Film Chamber by producer Bandla Ganesh under Parameshwara Arts Banner.
Ganesh is currently busy with the films Baadshah starring NTR and Iddarammayilatho starring Allu Arjun. This dynamic producer has two more big projects in the pipeline, one each with Mahesh Babu and Prabhas. While Puri Jagannath is scripting for Mahesh’s film, the director for Prabhas film is yet to be confirmed.
Seems like, Ganesh is leaving no stone unturned to get everything in place before kick-starting a project. Titles like Gabbar Singh in Hyderabad and Tapori were booked much before in advance to avoid unnecessary issues in future. Probably, he might have registered this new title for one of his two biggies with Mahesh and Prabhas.

He is just one of the 300 producers in the Industry before Gabbar Singh release, but now he has emerged as the top five producers with hotshot heroes and directors showing keen interest to team up with him. Ranbir Kapoor: Money has never been a driving factor

Ranbir Kapoor, scion of the first family of Bollywood – the Kapoors – says money has never been a motivating factor for him to be in films. His sheer love for acting guided him into the world of greasepaint, spotlight and camera.
The place where I come from, money has never been a driving factor. I have had a luxurious childhood. I am acting because I love it. I am grateful that I am getting opportunities today,” he said during a conversation with Anupam Kher at the latter’s Actor Prepares acting school.
Son of Rishi and Neetu Kapoor and grandson of Raj Kapoor, Ranbir says he has never taken his family name for granted. I don’t take it for granted. I don’t take my family name for granted. I know, if I have to make a name, I have to do it myself,” he said.
I can never rely on what my grandfather has done or my parents have done. Because nobody really remembers that and you will be remembered my the work you do,” he added.He came into filmdom six years ago with 2007 flop movie ‘Saawariya’, but later rose like meteor on film firmament by giving compelling performances in films like ‘Raajneeti’, ‘Rockstar’ and most recently ‘Barfi!’.Ranbir admits he has never asked for any creative advise from his actor parents.
My parents being actors, they have never forced down any opinions on me,” said the actor.”I have never gone to them for advice because they want me to take the credit of my own success and face my failures and that really makes you, who you are. That makes you more responsible and helps you grow,” he added.

Anupam Kher excited about working with Rekha in Super Nani

They worked together in films like ‘Sansar’ and ‘Mera Pati Sirf Mera Hai’ and after many years, yesteryears screen diva Rekha and the talented Anupam Kher are coming together for ‘Super Nani’, a film on women’s empowerment. Kher is looking forward to work with the actress.

Censor will not have issue with The Attacks of 26/11:RGV

Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who is all set with his film “The Attacks of 26/11″, based on the real incident the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, says he is not worried about the censor board which will not have any issue with this film.
There are two aspects to this film. It’s captured the way it is and there is no conspiracy in it. I don’t see there will be any issue from the censor board with this film. The visual effect might look a little hard hitting because of the violence or else I don’t see any other issues,” Ram Gopal Varma said at a press conference for the film.
The release date of the film will be declared only once the film is approved by the censor board, he said.On the film, Varma said: “I feel it’s eventually an attack on humanity and not on anything else. One will have to watch the film to get the core of it.”
He said the film was made after intense research and he made use of three strong sources to make it look authentic.”I had to research a lot for this film. There were three important sources and those were the eyewitnesses, police statements and judgment.
Directed by Varma and produced by Alumbra Entertainment and Eros International, “The Attacks of 26/11″ features Nana Patekar, and Sanjeev Jaiswal among others and is slated for early next month.

It has been widely speculated that director VV Vinayak and writer Akula Siva have narrated a story to Pawan Kalyan for which the actor didn’t seemed to be convinced by the plot. So a gentle no from Pawan Kalyan made Ram Charan to enter into the scene.
Though it is not clear whether the script narrated to Pawan Kalyan was ‘Nayak’ or not, Ram Charan showed interest for a film under VV Vinayak’s direction and as a result ‘Nayak’ falls into place. After a bit of hiatus and discussion in media circles, Nagarjuna’s new movie in the direction of Dasarath has got the title confirmed as ‘Greekuveerudu.’ There were ‘Love Story’ and ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’ as tentative titles rolling in media and Fans circles but finally, it is ‘greeku veerudu’ and makers have even registered the same. Currently, shooting is progressing at a brisk pace in Bangkok where Nayanathara is also present.
As we know, ‘greeku veerudu’ is the title which was actually used by Dasari Narayana Rao for the debut flick of his son Arun Kumar where in Pooja Batra played the heroine and movie was a clean flop. Telugu movie Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (SVSC) starring Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh in leads, has taken worldwide Box Office by storm. Despite facing tough competition from Ram Charan’s Naayak, the Srikanth Addala directed film has done superb collection at the business centres across the globe in the first week of its release.
It has shattered several old records and registered its own new marks. Two days after the release of Naayak, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu graced 1,500+ cinema halls across the globe on January 11.
Seethamma Vaktilo Sirimalle Chettu’ has set Nizam on fire with a superb performance at the Box Office. The film’s first week share stands at a phenomenal figure of approximately Rs. 10.08 Crores. This is significantly higher than the previous record for this area.
Victory Venkatesh and Superstar Mahesh Babu have acted together in this multistarrer and the buzz around the project has been incredible due to the star cast. The film is being wholeheartedly appreciated by family crowds as well as younger people.
Many were thinking that the film might be affected by the superb opening of Naayak. But undeterred by this, the Mahesh Babu and Venkatesh starrer opened to an overwhelming response and did record-breaking collection at the Box Office everywhere on the first day. Especially in America, Pawan Kalyan’s Blockbuster movie Gabbar Singh was the biggest opener and all time highest grosser movie in Telugu.
Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu became the biggest opener at the USA Box Office and it smashed the lifetime collection record of Gabbar Singh in just three days. Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu witnessed a big jump in its business on Saturday and Sunday, sending down the collection of Naayak.
The movie did superb collection on Monday due to Sankranthi holiday. Although its business dropped on weekdays, it was better than that of another Sankranthi release Naayak. Srikanth Addala’s second directorial venture has collected approximately Rs 35+ crores nett at the worldwide Box Office in the first week.
As per reports, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu has raked in approximately Rs 25 crores at the AP Box Office, while remaining Rs 10 crores are coming from its screening in USA, Karnataka and other parts of India. With this, the movie has become the third biggest grosser.

Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola (MKBKM) 1st Week Box Office Collections

Hindi movie Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola (MKBKM) starring Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma in leads, has ended the first week with decent collection at the Box Office. But the movie has failed to beat the opening week collection record at of Imran’s previous release Ek Main Aur Ek Tu (EMAET) at the international market.
Its worldwide business is lower than that of his previous movie. Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, which was expected to get a huge opening, received an average response and collected Rs 22.42 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend. The movie, which showed drop in its collection on weekdays, added Rs 10.75 crores to its first week total Rs 33.17 crores nett. Its breakup is Rs 26 lakhs on Thu previews, Rs 6.76 cr on Fri, Rs 7.25 cr on Sat, Rs 8 cr on Sun, Rs 4.10 cr on Mon, Rs 2.55 cr on Tue, Rs 2.20 cr on Wed and Rs 1.90 cr on Thu.
The Vishal Bhardwaj directed and produced movie opened to a cold response in foreign countries like USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola collected Rs 4.49 crores nett at the overseas Box Office in its opening weekend. On the weekdays, the film added another Rs 3.46 crores nett to its international total Rs 7.96 crores nett. With this, its worldwide total stands at Rs 41.13 crores.
However, Imran Khan’s previous movie Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu had collected Rs 42.17 crores nett at the worldwide Box Office in the first week. It had raked in Rs 32.75 crores nett in India and Rs 9.42 crores nett overseas. His latest outing Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola was expected to smash this record. Although it has beaten its domestic record, its average performance in the international market has stopped it from breaking its worldwide record.

David Dhawan to direct son Varun Dhawan in Ekta Kapoor’s next film

Varun Dhawan wowed everyone with his performance in his debut film ‘Student of The Year’ (SOTY) and the young actor has now bagged an Ekta Kapoor project to be made under her Balaji banner.
Youngest son of successful director David Dhawan, the actor said: “In 2013, I am doing a film with Balaji, which my father (David) is directing. I can’t talk much about it but preparations have begun.”
The 24-year-old was speaking Wednesday on the sidelines of the Lions Gold awards.
“After that, I have a few films but I can’t say anything. The producers will announce it,” added Varun who was named best male debut here.
His SOTY co-star Alia Bhatt, who was named the best female debut at the same event, was also present there and she says that she plans “to do more and more films and do good roles with good directors and new as well”.
“Everyone dreams of becoming the biggest and the best and I also have the same dream,” added Alia, daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actress Soni Razdan.

You should forget about comparisons in a multi-starrer film: Jacqueline Fernandez

Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandez, who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming action-thriller ‘Race 2′, says she is happy with the way things have opened up for her in Bollywood. Jacqueline, former Miss Sri Lanka, made her debut in Hindi cinema with box office dud ‘Aladin’ in 2009 but later went on to star in movies like ‘Housefull’ and ‘Murder 2′.
The actress says she is happy with her decision to come to Bollywood, which was a completely new world for her at one time.
“I can’t believe that I had guts to come all the way to Bollywood as I did not know anything about it. Sometimes I am like ‘What was I thinking?’. It would scare me to death to do something like that now. I guess I was quite fearless at that time.
“But I could not have asked for more. I am grateful for the opportunities which are beyond my expectations,” Jacqueline told PTI in a telephonic interview from Mumbai.
Jacqueline says her decision to travel all the way to another country for a career has made her a stronger woman.
“When I came here, I did not have anyone to go to for advice. Now, I have people from within the industry who have been helpful and kind of there for me. They are a guiding force at the end of the day. But when it comes to major decisions, I like to do it on my own because I started like that.”
The actress is now looking forward to start her year on happy note with the release of ‘Race 2′ on January 25.
Jacqueline, who went through a special training to learn a Vietnamese martial arts form for the film, says she has put in a lot for this character and hopes that it becomes her first hit of the year.
“It was a very challenging role. Our action-director did not want to use any body double for any of the actors including Saif (Ali Khan or John (Abraham). It prepared us for the challenges ahead because we wanted to live up to the expectations.
“I went through three months of training to learn the basics of Vietnamese fencing and action choreography. It was extremely intense and I hope it looks good on the screen.”
Jacqueline is sharing screen space with two other Bollywood beauties — Deepika Padukone and Amisha Patel — but the actress says she is not worried about being compared.
“In a multistarrer you need to focus on your character and not think about others. You should forget about comparison and any other thing. You are working on the same movie so do the best you can.”
The actress is also excited about playing a grey character for the first time in her career.
“This was a very interesting role because it gave me the chance to do lot of research and homework. My character had to be mysterious and physically fit.

Actress Sophiya Haque passes away in London

The multi-talented British Asian actress, singer and host Sophiya Haque has reportedly passed away.
She was well known for her roles in West End productions like ‘Bombay Dreams’, ‘The Far Pavilions’, ‘Wah Wah Girls’. She also starred in ‘Coronation Street’ as ‘Poppy’ in 2008. Prior to the soap, she appeared with Denise Van Outen in the BBC’s ‘Fairy Tales’ series.
Haque also performed a dance sequence in the film ‘Khoobsurat’ (1999) and has hosted shows for MTV India and Channel V.
Haque was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago and died in her sleep on 16th January.
The news of her demise was first tweeted by one of her close friends. Soon, several celebrities expressed shock and grief over her untimely demise on the micro blogging site.

Sonam Kapoor enjoys spending time with JNU Students

Actress Sonam Kapoor is right now in Delhi to shoot her upcoming film ‘Raanjhnaa’ and she is having a great time with the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University.
Apparently, Sonam is playing a role of Varanasi girl studying in JNU and she had to spent lot of time on the University’s campus. The actress gradually bonded really well with the student and now when she is at the campus for the last schedule, she has started hanging out with them.
A source from the sets informs, “After pack-up, Sonam is spotted hanging around with the students in the premise. They have developed a great bond and are often seen discussing various social issues when they get a chance.”
Interestingly, Sonam has become so easy with the students that it looks like she is just one of them and not a Bollywood star.
“Sonam will be donning a completely new look for the film. Also, although she has been spending most of her time shooting and hanging around the campus, it’s difficult to really make out whether she’s a star or just another student from the college,” says the source.
‘Raanjhnaa’ also stars South Indian superstar Dhanush in the lead role. The film is being directed by ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ director Anand L Rai.

Vikram’s ‘I’ Movie Shoot in Chennai

Shankar’s directorial titled I with Vikram in the lead role is currently being shot in Chennai where some key scenes are being shot. The ace director who happens to capture beautiful exotic locales is touring in and around Chennai for vital scenes on the lead actors Vikram and Amy Jackson.
Recently, the makers have canned an action sequence in China. Vikram has toned up his physique and he looks much younger. After the current schedule, Shankar will leave abroad for scouting unique picturesque locales for a song shooting.

Sunny Deol-Kangna Ranaut’s ‘I Love NY’ Movie First Look

Actor Sunny Deol has not graced our screens for some time and when he has, he’s had his family in tow. However, he will soon be seen on the big screen along with Kangna Ranaut in the forthcoming ‘I Love NY’.
It is thought the film will span the course of a day and a night and will see Deol reviving his comic best with also a spurt of action thrown in.
Although originally slated for released in January 2012, the film will see light of day this year. It remains to be seen whether it strikes a chord with the audiences.

Mahesh Babu, Puri Jagannath film title ‘Tapori’?

We broke the news that Parameshwara Arts bannerregistered the title ‘Tapori’ with the Film Chamber. We decided to dig a little deeper into the matter and we have now learnt from reliable sources that the title will most likely be used for Superstar Mahesh Babu’s film with director Puri Jagan.
This project is expected to be produced by star producer Bandla Ganesh.
While there has been no official announcement yet from the makers, we have learnt that discussions regarding the project are at an advanced state.
Mahesh Babu is currently working for Sukumar’s film and he has projects lined up with Sreenu Vaitla, Krish and Puri Jagan.

Akkineni Akhil with Naga Babu’s Daughter

Looks like, time has arrived for Akkineni Akhil’s film debut. Akkineni fans have been waiting eagerly for his entry since a couple of years. But Nagarjuna kept the young boy away from industry not to disturb hisstudies. As per a very reliable source, Akhil is currently in Hyderabad shooting for a short film which will help/test him in facing the camera for big test in future. Another interesting news is Naga Babu’s daughter Niharika is playing a pivotal role in this short film.
Both Mega and Akkineni families have been maintaining good relationship from long time. Earlier, ANR’s granddaughter Supriya debuted opposite Power Star Pawan Kalyan in their first film Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi. Now, the new Mega girl is pairing with Akkineni young lad. The short film is being helmed by a debutant.
Niharika has already acted in a short film named ODYSSEY-When Cupid Misses Movie in the past. The girl looks pretty attractive in this video. But, it is yet to be known whether Niharika and Akhil will together debut with the same commercial film in Tollywood or not? If this happens, both Mega and Akkineni fans will feel proud.
